Matt Grossmann lives in East Lansing, Michigan with his wife Sarah (also a political scientist) and their two children and their husky. His family owns Hooked, an independent bookstore, coffee shop, and wine bar in Lansing with regular community events, and helped found the Lansing LIT festival. He is originally from Columbia, Missouri and is the child of Jan and Larry Grossmann (founders of The Add Sheet), with one sister, Mindy. He has also lived in California (Claremont, Berkeley, San Francisco, and Oakland), Washington, DC, the UK (London and Oxford), and Cambridge, MA, and is currently spending time in Chicago.

Matt has attended most major music festivals (including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Woodstock 99, Burning Man, and EDC) and more than 200 other music events and been a part of the rave scene for 30 years.
During college, Matt was a part of an online campus newspaper and domain name dispute that resulted in a settlement with the College as well as a national effort to sway electors and reform the Electoral College during the aftermath of the 2000 election.
Matt is a maniacal walker (averaging 28,000 steps per day) and has been a vegetarian since high school.
Matt has been to 49 states (missing North Dakota) and 20 foreign countries.
